What’s left?

IMG_9211.JPGSo we are nearing the end of the longer than anticipated journey called house building! This past weekend we finished the primasil coat on the lime wash and last night I finished the priming of all the drywall except the kitchen ceiling which will go up after the plumbing and electrical work above the ceiling is done.

I though it would be appropriate to those trying to follow our progress to list what is left to do, it also helps me to visualize what needs to get done and break it into small easy to carry out chunks!

  • Fire-proof wall behind wood stove done!
  • Trim on stucco walls (baseboard, window trim and crown molding)
  • Cedar for bathroom ceiling done!
  • Extend ventilation ducts for second floor
  • Bathroom backer board/waterproofing/tile
  • Bathroom glass wall and door
  • Cabinetry (kitchen and bathroom vanity)
  • Plumbing fixtures
  • Light fixtures
  • Install stairs and railings
  • Kitchen ceiling (drywall, seamfill, prime and paint)
  • Finish floors (sand and seal spruce decking on second floor and clean and wax concrete floor on first floor)
  • Finish paint on drywall
  • Trim on drywall walls (baseboard, door casings and crown molding)
  • Closet trims (shelves/rods/etc…)
  • Interior doors
  • Move in!
  • Exterior touch-ups (when weather cooperates)

I think I can see the end!

Interior stucco completed!

IMG_0677.JPGThis past Sunday I put the last couple trowel fulls of interior stucco on the walls in the kitchen!  I have some photos from the day before showing the progress so far.  Now we are on to some finishing work like seam filling, cleaning, trim and limewashing.

Update on the Stucco

IMG_0069.JPGWell it’s been a long road, a hard road, felt like a lifetime to make it, but we are nearly done of stucco on the inside of the house! We have just the kitchen and utility closet left to put finish coat on and we can finally start cleaning up the dirt and filth and move on to finish work!

Soon, soon, our house will be done!
