If I were PM

The David Suzuki foundation has launched a tour and website called “If you were Prime Minister…” Tour, in which you write exactly that, and it gets mailed to the heads of the four main political parties in Canada, Con, Lib, NDP and Bloc.

If I were Prime Minister…

I would end short term solutions that look ahead only the next 4-8 years (same length as political most terms…) and work towards setting up goals that all parties can embrace and inherit in the case of government changes, that look ahead generations and even centuries in time.

Sustainability needs to be at the forefront of our agendas. Not just in terms of the environment and pollution, but also in our socio-economic areas as well. We need health care and education systems that work and are adaptable to our needs and can change with advancements in knowledge and technology.

We need sustainability in our foreign relations, we need to make connections and relations that foster good will and cooperation in the long term.

We definitely need to be more sustainable with our resources, especially our basic resources like wood, water and even rock. We need to protect our national natural treasures like the Niagara Escarpment and BC rain forests.

We need to protect out farmers and fishermen with practical and sustainable regulations that foster conservation. At the same time we need to be protective of our waters and stop foreign over fishing, as well as try to guide other countries towards conservation as well.

We have the money, people, resources and knowledge to become an example of a truly sustainable, innovative, advanced country and culture in the world, we need someone to inspire us to become that dream. If I were Prime Minister, that would be my goal.

More running and moving!

Moving in the address change sense! This is the weekend we head to Emyvale for a summer living with the in-laws. Before you cringe, they are everything I could hope for as in-laws and I am actually looking forward to it. Plus we’ll be right next to our land and we’ll be close to Laine’s family. We’ll also be driving by my mom and Dad’s to go to work and back everyday so quick visits to see them will be more frequent as well.

I hit 3k this week on Wednesday in my running training. It felt really good but alas I did not stretch reallt at all afterwards and my calves and shins ended holding me back to day to a 1k run and 1/2k sprint at the end. Next week I hopig I can make it to 3k twice.

Our timberframer is working on our price and design as wespeak and I should hear back soon from him. I am hoping for a smaller number than he ballparked me last week, we did remove a gable and 200sf from the design since then. I guess we shall have to wait and see!

Upgrades and Relay for Life

Well I upgraed crimespree to WordPress 2.1 yesterday and accidently deleted all my uploaded photos….  Boo.  Anyways, I may try and re-upload most of them but then again I may just forget it.  It’s mostly old posts and what-not anyways.

I am looking for volunteers to join my team for the Relay for Life this year.  It takes place June 15th  and can be a lot of fun!  Please if you think you’d like to come out let me know ASAP!  It’s for a good cause and not as hard as you might think, especially with a big team.
